Dare I say it... having used Wikipedia while on the Reference Desk helping a customer, I could hardly be a detractor, but I must admit to prefering a more 'official' encyclopedia for citations and more solid sources for research.
What I found interesting about Wikis is the idea of using one more personally - it really could work to set up a trip with friends on a wiki, or professionally - to set up a wiki for collaborative work within my own organisation.
I would like to see our library apply a wiki for the local studies collection - how cool it would be if our local residents could submit their own biographies, photographs, ephemera and make up a resource for the future. Of course, the usual suspects of lack of time/interest and questions of authenticity would have to be overcome.
